· A mini draft of the history also provided in attachment.
· SWOT items still needs refinement, looking for volunteers to work on it
· Information noted with bulleted points is the raw data from the last session; volunteers are needed to work with data as well.
Values
Samuel presented values refined. Samuel noted the values were pinpointed and broad statements of appropriate ideals as set by the group. Samuel further noted some of the presented values have the possibility to be in the Value, Mission or Goals/Strategies categories.
Suggestions & comments:
· Group discussion on the use of “ex-offender”. Suggestions in place of ex-offender were “member”, “consumer”, “clients”.
· Lorio suggested omit “children of ex-offenders” in the value statement as to not restrict group for potential grant opportunities.
· Value statements are not specific to population and that is a good thing.
· Recommended to utilize personal document vs. ID cards
· Perspective added for the need for resources and assistance for the families of the offenders. The need is more of relational need such as information on have to navigate through resources and emotional needs of offender and family.
Organizational Structure
Samuel presented the options for organization structure:
· Association/Alliance
· 501 (c)
· Trust
Samuel noted this group presently is an informal network and of the three structure option, presently group most resembles that of an Alliance. Samuel further noted with Alliance option, staff still may be needed to coordinate services. Also, with this structure a memorandum of understanding would be provided to ensure all parties were on the same page. After further discussion group consensus was to explore alliance structure keeping in mind in the future a 501 (c) may be an option further down the road.
